The magnetic permeability of the alloy may get affected by the variation of chemical composition and heat treatments process. Also, these can be applied where non-magnetic properties are desired. These are from the group of nonferrous material; however, it becomes brittle in the lower temperatures.
K 500 valves: These valves are hot formed in the temperature range between 1600 deg F to 2100 deg F. after manufacturing and hot working process it is quenched with water. The cold forming operation is performed in the annealed condition. Mainly, the machining process of valves is done in its annealed conditions. These are weldable by shop welding processes like arc and resistance welding.
Testing details: The tests performed on Monel 400/K500 valves are a destructive test, macro test, positive material test, tensile test, radiographic test, flattening test, ultrasonic test, spectro analysis, and IGC test. Other tests are the mechanical test, hardness test, micro test, flaring test, pitting corrosion test, destructive test, etc.
