Alloy 317 is an austenitic SS grade with a higher amount of chromium, molybdenum and nickel content. It has a higher resistance to chemical effects ranging from different acids. The L grade has a lower carbon content that allows resistance to intergranular attacks. This grade has a higher strength at elevated temperatures. This grade is weldable with all standard welding process and is readily machinable with all conventional machines.

These valves are subjected to all hot working process. These valves are heated in the temp between 1149 to 1260 deg C. The temperature should be maintained below 927 deg C. This grade will not require the post weld heat treatments and also retain higher corrosion resistance. The annealing process is performed to reduce internal stress. The cold working operation is easily performed in the annealing conditions. However, the heat treatment process will not affect the structure, this process is performed to achieve higher structures.

Stainless Steel 317/317L Valves are subjected to solution annealing process in temp between 1010-1121 deg C and followed by the cold working process.
